Cracked Bamboo Carving Board After One Use - Your Thoughts?

In summary, it seems that some people have experienced cracking issues with the Bamboo Carving Board even with proper care. It is recommended to contact Pampered Chef's customer service for assistance and to take precautions such as properly drying the board and avoiding extreme temperature changes or moisture. Some also suggest treating the board with a food-safe oil or wax.

HI All-

I used my Bamboo Carving Board for the first (and only) time on Thanksgiving. When I washed it off, I just used a damp cloth with a little soap(did not submerge it or put it in the dishwasher). I brought it in to work yesterday because someone was interested in purchasing it as a X-mas gift and I noticed that it has several small cracks in it. Some are on the seams, but others are not. Luckily the person who wanted to get one didn't notice and bought one! Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem and if you have sent yours back? I have to say I don't feel comfortable selling a $69 cutting board if it is going to end up with cracks after only one use.

Any thoughts?

Happy Holidays All!

It could be a defect. I've used mine several times and I wipe it down with a damp sponge and towel dry it off quickly. Contact HO for a replacement. I love my cutting board. Sorry to hear yours is cracking.

I have not personally experienced this issue with my Bamboo Carving Board, but I have heard of others having similar problems. It's possible that the board may have been exposed to extreme temperature changes or excessive moisture, which can cause the wood to expand and contract, leading to cracks. It's also possible that the board was not properly dried after washing, which can also cause cracking.I would recommend contacting Pampered Chef's customer service to see if they have any suggestions or if they can replace the board for you. In the meantime, make sure to properly dry your board after washing and try to avoid extreme temperature changes or prolonged exposure to moisture. You could also try treating the board with a food-safe mineral oil or beeswax to help prevent cracking.I hope this helps and happy holidays to you too!
