Director Baked Brie Recipe in New Cocotte??

In summary, the new mini round cocotte is great for entertaining and is oven safe. It holds a wheel of brie cheese with raspberry habanero sauce perfectly.

Has anyone tried baked brie in the new mini round cocotte yet? That's what I envision being SO good and I'm not sure if I should just do a regular past recipe in it (baked brie with apples and cranberries??) or try something new with it. Anyone have any ideas? I'm not good with winging it.:):)

I am not a brie fan but seems as if they mentioned carmelizing onions in it...I would think that with the brie would make a good combination.

I still don't get why they didn't make this a stone. I am so confused as to how I would use it. Now if it was a stone I would have a ton of ideas. lolSorry, I have no answer for you Becky except i think it would work but if it was a mini stoneware baker my answer would be "it's perfect for that."

It basically is like a stone, except it can go in the dishwasher! I ended up just putting a 4" round of brie in it and baked it at 350 until it seemed done. Then I poured some raspberry habanero sauce over it and served it with crackers. It worked out pretty well. It's a good size for hot dips and stuff like that. We also had the recipe that it comes with at our big recipe slam last week - that was good, but it was actually a cold dip which was sort of weird.

Is there room to wrap the brie with puff pastry and put it in there to bake? It would be fabulous that way with some apricot preserves, pecans... jalepeno... like the tangy pecan brie recipe

There probably is a little extra room around it to do that. I would have done that if I had all the ingredients on hand. I do like this little "bowl" shape because it keeps all the yummy gooey cheese easier to scoop up with crackers or use a spreader with because it contains it more than in the mini baker or small bar pan.

About how long did you bake it? 10 minutes? 20?

Thanks

It was probably around 20 minutes.

I haven't opened mine yet. But isn't it stoneware just completely glazed?
I do the pepper pecan baked brie with baquettes from a few years ago at my fall shows every year. It would look so cute in the coquette. And I could still do the baquettes if I wanted on a small stone. I will try it when I get back from vacation.

Here's what the test kitchens told me:

"Hi Beth,

Thank you for contacting The Pampered Chef with your product question.
Our Mini Round Cocotte was designed as more of a entertaining piece that
you can serve out of. It is to go along with our Simple Additions line
more than Stoneware. The glaze inside allows you to show-off your foods,
makes for an easy clean-up (limits staining) and allows it to be
dishwasher-safe. The Mini Round Cocotte is oven-safe to serve heated
dips as well as cold ones. It fits a wheel of brie cheese with sauce
perfectly, Chihuahua cheese melts great, and our TPC dip recipes are
some ideas to serve from this product. The lids keeps foods covered and
warm, and nests within the vessel for easy storage. I hope you find this
information helpful. If you have any further questions, please feel free
to contact us again.

Sincerely,

Tracey
Test Kitchens"

Then I asked about the Chihuahua cheese - impossible to find here.

"You can typically substitute monterey jack or a mild wheel of provolone for the chihuahua cheese.

I'm thinking of using this for brie at my Open House next week. Was the brie easy to get out using a spreader-since the cocotte will be hot?

1. How do I make a baked brie in a new cocotte?

To make a baked brie in a new cocotte, start by preheating your oven to 350°F (180°C). Then, unwrap the brie and place it inside the cocotte. You can leave the rind on or remove it, depending on your preference. Top the brie with your desired toppings, such as honey, nuts, or jam. Place the lid on the cocotte and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the brie is melted and bubbly. Serve with crackers, bread, or fruit for dipping.

2. What size cocotte should I use for a baked brie recipe?

The size of the cocotte you use for a baked brie recipe will depend on the size of the brie wheel you are using. Generally, a 6-inch cocotte will work well for a small brie wheel, while an 8-inch cocotte is better for a larger brie wheel. It's always a good idea to measure the brie wheel and choose a cocotte that is slightly larger to allow room for toppings.

3. Can I use any type of brie for a baked brie recipe?

Yes, you can use any type of brie for a baked brie recipe. Traditional brie is made with cow's milk, but you can also find brie made with goat or sheep's milk. You can also use flavored brie, such as truffle or cranberry, for a unique twist on the traditional recipe.

4. How do I serve a baked brie in a new cocotte?

To serve a baked brie in a new cocotte, remove the lid and place the cocotte on a serving dish or cutting board. You can also use a heat-resistant trivet to protect your table or countertop. Serve the brie with a spreader or knife for guests to scoop the melted cheese onto their plates. Add additional toppings, such as fresh herbs or dried fruit, for an extra burst of flavor.

5. Can I make a baked brie in a new cocotte ahead of time?

Yes, you can make a baked brie in a new cocotte ahead of time. You can assemble the brie and toppings in the cocotte and refrigerate until ready to bake. When you're ready to serve, simply preheat the oven and bake as directed in the recipe. Keep in mind that the brie may take a few extra minutes to melt if it's been refrigerated beforehand.
