Struggling to Reach Directorship: Any Tips for Encouragement?

In summary, the author is having a difficult day and is wondering if it is just this time of year or if things are really going downhill. She has recruited 5 people but only 1 has confirmed for her show. She is worried about her future and whether she will be able to keep her business afloat. However, she is grateful for what she has and is optimistic that things will improve.

Hello there!

I am working soooo hard to get to directorship and I can feel it all crumbling at my fingertips. I have 6 girls....and 3 in the works. 2 are qualified, 2 only need 2 more, 1 needs 3, and 1 needs all of them. I have done all I can to make sure they all have the support they need to be successful. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be getting there. One of the girls has stopped returning calls and emails completely. I feel terrible! All these girls became consultants for different reasons and I know they will have so much success if they just try.

My goal was April 1st, my back up goal is May 1st. I have bought my plane ticket for the Directors Academy and I am worried it wont happen.

To top it off..... I have consistently been doing 10-12 shows every month since October...Besides December that is, and April I only have 5 strong shows booked.

Ow there is more. The last 4 shows I had NO bookings!!!!!!!!!! This has NEVER happened. I always get 1-2 bookings at EVERY show.

Then I had a conversation with someone who was supposed to have a show for me in April said she felt my host packet was too pressuring and she doesn't want to have her show. I was SHOCKED!!!!!!! She felt there would be NO way for her to have a 1000 show and I guess it freaked her out that I was giving her suggestions on how to have one.

I LOVE my job and I LOVE everything Pampered Chef has to offer. I know this seems to be a long thread and I am sorry. I have worked so hard and I don't feel I have done anything different with my presentation or anything.

Am I just losing it, or has anyone else had this happen? I know we all have bad days, but man today seems like the worst!!!!!

Thanks for letting me vent!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having a rough day. I'm new, so I don't have much advice to give. My thoughts are it might just be this time of year. I was talking to my director today, and she has had a lot of cancellations recently. Don't take it personally. I think you are doing great!! I would be very happy to have 5 shows booked for April. Right now I only have one booked and it's at the end of the month. So, cheer up :)

Cheer up!! It will get better.1) Your recruits -- all you can do is coach, train & support. They succeed or not (like the rest of us) based on their efforts. It sounds like your team is in good shape, the exception being the one who needs 3 more shows & the one who needs to get started. Maybe their own confidence is lacking & they just need a gentle nudge & encouragement to get going.Stay on top of the others, keep them motivated & focussed. Soon they'll all qualify.2) As for the host who canceled, ... what can you do? She took your encouragement in a way other than intended. I'm sure you reassured her that you were simply trying to help her get as much FPV as possible. 3) Bookings... 5 is a start. At those shows, you'll likely get more bookings. Keep your chin up. It'll all work out. We've all gone through slumps. Things will turn around again.

Thank you so much ladies! I appreciate the boost and it has really helped. I have to realize that as long as I continue to do what I can and as long as I offer this business and shows to everyone then someone will say yes. I have to remind myself how thankful I am that someone offered it to me and where I am because of it. Thanks again!!!

Smile! sounds like you are doing all the right things!
What I have learned is NOT to take things personally ( I know, very hard!)
JUst keep plugging, it all evens out in the end. Sometimes just seems like a roller coaster!!
Be PROUD of what you already have done!! Sounds like you are working it. It will work for you!!

One show at a time, one recruit at a time...we all get impatient, but if you're both persistant and consistant, your business will flourish! (Which you've got a great start on, by the way!)

Work with those that you have in the works, the more you recruit the better your chances. They will all work at their own pace and you never know which will break out and be a superstar. Don't waste too much time on those that dont want to work as hard as you do, few will. When I started, doing lots of shows was the furthest from my mind but they all seemed to fall into my lap and the biz was a good fit for me. I qualified two weeks from the time I got my kit. Also, when you become Director you will need to keep your group sales at $4000 a month, I don't think that will be a huge issue for you because you can probably do that on your own, but if not you will need a strong group of ladies so you don't lose Directorship. Keep your chin up and let your example motivate the ones that are ready. Your 20%ers...

Hey Smile, sorry things aren't working out for you so well right now, although like the others, I'd encourage you to focus on the positive. I did want to make a small comment on what you said above. In fact I might make a seprate thread about it later (the kids are calling right now...). I know that as a customer (note my signature) I really didn't like my consultant coaching me to have a $1k show. It felt too high pressure and all about the money instead of having fun. My advice to you would be to contact her (if you feel able) and just say that you're sorry she felt pressured, your intention was to make sure she got alot of free stuff, but if she'd like you can start over and just focus on how to make it a really fun party for her and her guests! (Again, from my perspective, I love PC stuff, but I've been to parties that were boring - lots of listening to the consultant, no chances to try products, and no time just to socialise/ask the other guests about their experiences with the products). It might be better to do this through a personal card in the real mail! Just a thought, unless you think she really wouldn't want to hear back from you. Anyway, I hope this helps, I writing as DS is calling for me so I'm not 100% "here"!! I'll proably read it later and find all the typos and incoherent rambling... :)

Hello there Annibee!

Thank you so much for your insite on the 1000 show info. I did explain to her over and over that my parties are NOT high pressure what so ever and that I provide that info to my hosts so that they have the resources needed to earn as much free stuff they want. This is so hard for me, because since I started including this info in my host packets my show average has skyrocketed. My hosts normally appreciate that I help them so much.

One thing I did not mention about this lady is she also kept bringing up the fact that my signature on my e-mail says what my goal in my business is (To promote to director) and how it was also too pressuring. Man that sucked!!! Most everyone just roots me on and encourages me, not take offense to it.

I do like the idea of sending her a card apologizing once again, that would, I think, be a nice touch. I was nearly in tears after talking to her because she was making me sound like the person I swore I would never be. Bottom line, her husband is without a job, she is preaching to people at church how you shouldn't spend money that you don;t need to and she didn't want the party in the first place. She only booked because she didn't want to let down the preachers wife, who had the original party. She was looking for any excuse to get out of the party, I could tell that from the beginning. She wasn't at the party originally and told the host to have me call her which is the weirdest part.

I think I may revamp my host packet alittle to maybe be more relaxed. I am a type A personality and so I do sometimes provide too much info....lol. As you may have noticed in this long response.

I really hope you jump on the wagon and start your PC business. It is truly the most amazing company to work for. The friendships alone that I have made since I started has made this business so fulfilling. Ow, plus since most everyone does the interactive shows now, you won;t have to worry about those boring parties you were speaking of. Thanks so much and take care.
