Asking for Prayer for a Young Girl.

In summary, Shonta has leukemia and is in ICU. She is in a lot of pain and doctors are hopeful that they can reduce her medications soon so that she can be taken off the respirator.

A little background:
about 8 years ago, friends of ours adopted a little girl who, at age 7 had spent her entire life in and out of the foster care system...bouncing back and forth between foster care, and an abusive, drug addicted household. Then she was adopted by Steve and Shelley. She captured the hearts of everyone who met her...she is vibrant, beautiful, and full of life.
For the past couple of months, she's been complaining of pain in her joints (especially legs and hips), and has been visiting DR.s to find the cause.
Monday it all came to a head, when she collapsed. She was admitted to the hospital and underwent a battery of tests, where it was diagnosed that she has AML Leukemia. She's a pretty sick little girl right now. I'm providing a link to her carepage for those who would be interested, but here is what her parents are asking for prayer for tonight:We have a few goals that you can be praying for:1.That they can remove the breathing tube soon.
2. That the Chemo & Radiation will continue to shrink the tumors and kill off the bad blood cells.
3. That she can be removed for the kidney dialysis machines.
4. That she will no longer be sedated and we can move her out of ICU and to the 9th floor. Please pray specifically for these things and in this order!
So I'm asking for more prayer covering for Shonta from all of my friends here. There's so much more info on the care page, and more of an idea of what a Spunky, Beautiful Girl she is!http://www.carepages.com/carepages/ShontaFrody

Oh, definitely praying!

Thank you for sharing this, Becky! Those castle gates will be stormed in the name of Shonta.

Thanks for your prayers everyone! Keep Praying.

Here is the latest update, from her Dad.

Shonta recieved her 3 sets of Chemo and her 3rd radiation treatment today....Interesting she travels thru the tunnel under michigan street to the other facility with doctor, RN, Respitory specialists...the whole crew for safety while being on Full machinge hookup...going to radiation.

Shonta remains in ICU and is stated as the patient with the toughest condition on the floor. Keep hanging in there Shonta!!

It seems like its going to be a quite a bit before she is off the respatory system. She is about to go back on the Kidney dialysis machine again. She is on this 18 hrs a day. To get a better understanding...There is about 8 IV pumps hooked up...with Indo-Trachial tube...(better known as breathing tube)

We thank you all for all the thoughts and comments on the page. We are greatful for the many friends and support with helping us.

Steve

Today's update, from Shonta's Dad.... (and lots of pictures! I loved looking at these!)

Shelley loaded a bunch of pictures today....From when we first met her at McDonalds when she was only 8 to Today. She has been with us 7 years already.

Today at the hospital was kinda quiet but restful for Shonta. This was great. Some slight improvement with breathing...Shonta has been somewhat stablized and doctors are optomistic on this.
She is still with a ventilator and kidney machine filtering her blood and we are hopefull real soon...to be off this. Doctor this afternoon hinted today they are trying to reduce meds to get ready for the removal of breathing tube. She is still very critical ill. Once this happens they may be pulling off on the sedation too?? This is one of the goals.

Right now her blood counts are vitally really low and open to infections...Pray this will avoid her.

Thanks everyone for all your words of encouragement. Shonta will absolutely love this when she is able to view this care page for her!!
