Urgent Substitute for Rosemary Herb Seasoning?

In summary, substituting for a pantry item in a recipe is not as straightforward as it seems. You should always begin with half the recipe amount and adjust to your own tastes.

I thought I had some of this, but I don't. What can I do for a substitute? It's for the Sausage & Apple Herb Stuffing recipe.

Thyme; tarragon; or savory

Whenever substituting, you must realize that the flavor will not be as originally intended in the recipe. As such, it is wise to begin your substitution with half the specified recipe amount and then adjust to your own personal tastes. You should always feel free to adjust and add to any recipe to suit yourself and your family. Who knows? You just might create a new family favorite!Spice Substitutions

This is too late to help you today, but here is how I figure out PC pantry substitutes.
The PC cookbooks usually have a Chef's Corner tip on subtitutions for pantry ingredients, so all you need to do is find a recipe that has that pantry item.

On CC, I searched for "Specify Ingredients = rosemary herb"
That brought up this list:

Your recipe search for ... Can be found in ... Page

Artichoke Chicken with Roasted Potatoes,29 Minutes to Dinner,15
Crusty Herb Cheese Bread, Product Use and Care
Deep-Dish Artichoke Focaccia,It's Good for You,25
Grilled Garlic Bread,Casual Cooking,25
Grilled Rosemary Pork Chops,Casual Cooking,15
Mushroom Focaccia Bread,All the Best,37
Portobello Pita Pockets,It's Good for You,29
Roast Breast of Turkey with Apple Scented Pan Gravy, Product Use and Care
Roasted Garlic & Red Pepper Dip,It's Good for You,24
Rosemary Herb Chicken Bites, Product Use and Care
Rosemary Pita Chips, It's Good for You, 22
Rosemary Pita Chips,The Pampered Chef® Stoneware Inspirations,22
Sausage and Apple Herbed Stuffing, Product Use and Care
Savory Herbed Stuffing, Product Use and Care

Now, this won't help if you're a new consultant without any cookbooks. The Product Use and Care recipes never show the substitutions, but the newer cookbook recipes usually do.

From 29 Minutes To Dinner, the Chef's Corner note says:
1 tsp crushed dried rosemary, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp coarsely ground black pepper

All the Best just says to substitute crushed dried rosemary leaves.

Just something to keep in mind for the future - if you have the newer cookbooks, they usually have substitutions in them.

Wow! Thanks for looking all that up for me! :)

1. Can I use dried rosemary instead of the Rosemary Herb Seasoning?

Yes, dried rosemary can be used as a substitute for the Rosemary Herb Seasoning. However, the flavor may not be as strong, so you may need to use a larger amount to achieve the desired taste.

2. What herbs can I use as a substitute for Rosemary Herb Seasoning?

Thyme, oregano, and savory are all herbs that can be used as a substitute for Rosemary Herb Seasoning. These herbs also have a similar flavor profile and work well in many dishes.

3. Can I make my own Rosemary Herb Seasoning?

Yes, you can make your own Rosemary Herb Seasoning by combining dried rosemary, thyme, oregano, and savory. You can also add other herbs and spices such as garlic powder and black pepper to customize the flavor to your liking.

4. Is there a non-herb substitute for Rosemary Herb Seasoning?

If you do not have any herbs on hand, you can use a blend of dried onion and garlic powder as a substitute for Rosemary Herb Seasoning. This will add a similar depth of flavor to your dishes.

5. How should I store my Rosemary Herb Seasoning substitute?

If you make your own substitute, you can store it in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months. If using dried herbs as a substitute, be sure to store them in an airtight container to maintain their freshness and flavor.
