Cooking Spanish Rice in a Rice Cooker: Tips & Tricks

In summary, the cooking time for Spanish rice in a rice cooker is the same as white rice, but can be adjusted for a softer texture by adding extra water and cooking for a few extra minutes. Chicken broth can be used instead of water for added flavor, but the amount of salt in the recipe should be adjusted. Vegetables can also be added to the rice for a colorful twist, just make sure to chop them into small pieces. It is recommended to rinse the rice before cooking to remove excess starch. To prevent sticking, lightly grease the bottom of the rice cooker or add a small amount of oil or butter to the rice before cooking.

I need to make lots of rice for a function tomorrow - spanish rice. Can I cook Mahatma rice in the Rice Cooker? Just throw in the seasoning and veggies? Tips? Water, how much? Help!

My mom does 1 c. rice to 1 c. broth plus 1 c. Spicy V8 juice. You could add veggies - a thick salsa or pico de gallo would work for a really easy extra bit of veggies. Usually you'd do rice 1 c. rice to 2 c. water, so you're just replacing the water with broth and the spicy v8.

jus follow the microwave directions on the package

Okay, I did 2 cups rice, 4 cups water, 2 T of tomato powder (?), some onion and followed basic microwave directions from Rice Cooker. Delicious!

Hi there! As a fellow Pampered Chef consultant, I'm happy to offer some advice on making Spanish rice in your rice cooker. Yes, you can definitely use Mahatma rice in your rice cooker. I would recommend using the same amount of water as you would for regular white rice, which is typically a 1:2 ratio of rice to water. For added flavor, you can mix in some chicken or vegetable broth instead of just using water. As for the seasoning and veggies, I would suggest sautéing them in a separate pan before adding them to the rice cooker for a more intense flavor. Once the rice is cooked, you can mix in the sautéed veggies and seasoning before serving. I hope this helps and good luck with your function tomorrow!
