Outburst in Court Could Cause a Mistrial

Carolyn Linderholm, one of Paige Birgfeld's closest friends, testified Thursday in the retrial of Lester Jones. Jones is accused of kidnapping and murdering Pampered Chef Director Paige Birgfeld in 2008.After testifying, on her way out of the courtroom, Linderholm looked at Jones and called him a murderer.The judge and attorneys heard the remark, as did Jones. The question is whether the jury heard Linderholm's remark. She was charged with Contempt of Court for her emotional outburst and will be sentenced today.

UPDATE: On Friday, the judge determined that the jury did not hear Linderholm's remark, and the trial will continue. Linderholm was charged with Contempt of Court and was sentenced to 24 hours of "useful community service." Wow, this is a very emotional and intense case. It's understandable that Linderholm would feel angry and want to confront Jones after testifying about her friend's murder. However, it's important for all parties involved to remain professional and follow the rules of the court. It's unfortunate that Linderholm may face consequences for her outburst, but it's important to respect the legal process. I hope justice is served for Paige Birgfeld and her loved ones.
