Illinois Sales Tax: Verify Rates for Your Show Tonight!

In summary, the current sales tax rate in Illinois is 6.25%, but may go up to 11.50% due to additional local taxes. Most tangible goods and some services are subject to sales tax, but there are exemptions for groceries, prescription medication, and certain machinery and equipment. If an online retailer has a physical presence in Illinois, sales tax will be charged, but if not, a use tax may still apply. Sales tax is due on the 20th day of the month following the reporting period, which is usually monthly but can be quarterly for some businesses.

I am doing a show in Illinois tonight, and I want to verify the sales tax before the show. Thanks!

it's different in every city. Did you look it up on CC?Also, shipping is NOT taxed in IL, so be sure not to charge your customers extra!

You can do this by going to Consultant's Corner and using the tax look up. You just need to enter their zip code.

If the zip code is within a certain distance from where you live, P3 will already have the tax info in its database on your computer. It's either within 50 or 100 miles, but I can't remember which...
