Delicious Dessert Recipes Showcasing Cookware & Stoneware

In summary, a rustic apple tart is a great dessert recipe that showcases both cookware and chef's tools and can be made ahead of time for a show. Other options for showcasing cookware include skillet cakes like Turtle Fudge or Pineapple Upside Down, and for stoneware, options like Apple Bread Pudding or Micro Cakes in a Fluted dish.

Hey! Does anyone have a good/easy dessert recipe that showcases the cookware and chef's tools? How about one that showcases stoneware? One that can be done mostly ahead of time? I have a show coming up and the host isn't sure if she is going to do it the end of January or the beginning of February, and she wants to do a dessert recipe. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

any of the skillet cakes will show off the cookware - the Turtle Fudge and the PIneapple Upsode Down are quite impressive.

For stoneware I'd do the Apple Bread Pudding or the Micro Cakes in the Fluted.

1. What is the best type of cookware or stoneware to use for baking desserts?

The best type of cookware or stoneware for baking desserts would depend on the specific dessert you are making. For pies and tarts, a ceramic pie dish or tart pan would work well. For cakes, a non-stick metal pan or silicone pan would be suitable. For cookies, a heavy-duty baking sheet or stoneware baking sheet would be ideal.

2. Can I use stoneware in the microwave to make desserts?

Yes, stoneware can be used in the microwave to make desserts. However, it is important to check the manufacturer's instructions to ensure that the stoneware is safe for use in the microwave. It is also recommended to avoid using stoneware with metallic accents or decorations in the microwave.

3. What are some tips for using stoneware to make desserts?

When using stoneware to make desserts, it is important to preheat the stoneware in the oven before adding the dessert batter. This will help to ensure even baking and prevent the dessert from sticking to the stoneware. It is also recommended to lightly grease the stoneware before adding the batter to make it easier to remove the dessert after baking.

4. Is it necessary to adjust the baking time when using stoneware for desserts?

Yes, it is recommended to adjust the baking time when using stoneware for desserts. Stoneware tends to retain heat longer than other types of bakeware, so the baking time may need to be reduced by a few minutes. It is best to keep an eye on the dessert and use a toothpick to test for doneness before the recommended baking time is up.

5. How do I clean and care for my stoneware after making desserts?

To clean and care for stoneware after making desserts, it is important to avoid using harsh detergents or scrubbers. Instead, let the stoneware cool down completely before rinsing it with warm water and using a nylon scraper or brush to remove any food residue. Avoid soaking the stoneware and never put it in the dishwasher. Seasoning the stoneware with oil after each use can help to maintain its non-stick properties.
