Activity Help! Kids Fair Event Tomorrow

I need some ideas please! I have been searching for an hr and cannot find the thread where we talked about kids event ideas.

I have a kids BTS fair tomorrow. Each booth must have an activity. So far all I have is the guessing game. I filled all 4 of the glass pinch bowls with skittles and they will guess how many are in each. Would you guess the large one holds 188!!!

I will also do water and confetti in the quick-stir

Was thinking of having the pastry mat with play dough and bakers roller.

I do not want this to be to much setup and work. I dont have much space. It's 10x10 booth. I will also have my ez-up tent set up.

Are you going to have a prize for the kid who comes closest w/ guessing the skittles?

They are all supposed to get a prize for doing the activities. I may have something special for the best guess though to get the parents info... Ohhh... yeah I like this!!! Now what will it be?

Sounds like enough to me. Are you making the play dough? There is a great recipe that uses jello and smells better than other play dough recipes.

Since you are doing the prep bowls, maybe a set of prep bowls could be the prize?

no... do you have the recipe... could not find any at my local store and do not want to bring from home. Is it easy? I don't have a ton of time.

Could get pricey to have a prize JUST for doing the activity- GET STICKERS somewhere cheap- or candy. Kids don't expect much.

And recipe cards for the mom's/dad's.

That would be fun and inexpensive ($5 ?). Kids would do it.

Just make sure you tie a ribbon or something on & AROUND the bowl/lid- because I guarantee, one of two things will happen- a kid or parent will pick it up/shake it and the lid pops off....

, or a child will take the lid off and EAT some before you can stop them if you are busy with someone else. I've done guessing-games like that before, and the kids do try- but I always had the bowl tied up with a ribbon and a small bow on top, so they couldn't easily access it.

Sorry, miss read, about the bowls. I like the idea of a GC to DQ.Here is the recipe for play dough. It is really easy. 5-10 minutes Jello Playdough
Wondering what to do with all of that jello you bought on sale but never seem to have the time to make into something? Here's a really cute recipe for using it to make scented playdough. The kids love it!Ingredients:1 cup white flour
1/2 cup salt
2 T. cream of tartar
2 T. Vegetable oil
1 c. warm water
1 three oz. pkg. jello (any flavor)Directions:Combine ingredients and cook over medium heat until it thickens and pulls away from the sides of pot and becomes dull. * Note: it burns easily so don't put over too high a heat and keep stirring. Mold and knead until cool enough to touch. Store in a closed plastic bag. At outdoor school I had kids use the Apple Peeler Corer Slicer. I then had them estimate the length of the apple peel in cm. You'd be surprised to know that one apple producer over 5 feet of peel!

For those teachers out there, if you are responsible for teaching health: nutrition, it's really fun to combine math with it. You can do the apple peel activity and introduce kids to many "foreign" fruits and vegetables. I brought a star fruit, cucumber (and yes many kids had never had a cucumber in their life!), and other fruits and vegetables. We estimated seeds, measured circumferance, etc. We use my PC products. Because we were using gloves and nothing was prepared away from school, we could do that. It was a great lesson on nutrition and many kids wanted the products.

Yup... each kid gets a sticker or piece of candy for doing the activity. Wated to offer a bigger prize for who guesses the most right for the skittles in all 4 pinch bowls. Thought it would be a good way to get mom and dads info. I am offering an extra "Let's Eat" cookbook I have NIP from the outlet.

Not sure I can ask the teachers at school. It looks just like what they use at preschool here.

You were right. Typically when they use a capital T that means Tablespoon, and a lower case t is a teaspoon.

It lasts for months! I always make sure my kids wash their hands well after they play and don't eat it (that can be a challenge with the younger ones).

I figured but wanted to be sure. I did not have time to make another batch and was low on salt.

The fair was a bit of a bust but got my name out a bit more. Did connect with a family I am aquainted with and finally mentioned doing a show with them and they were really excited about it.

Than ks for the help with the ideas! The kids LOVED the playdough!
