Exclamation New French Fry Slicer

I was so excited to go to my first spring launch. My son and I made french fries with the new slicer for lunch today. On the 3rd potato it bent and broke and cut my son! Not cool...

Wow, I hope your son is OK, Heather!
And nobody else cuts themselves even after reading the directions

I know the wedger is really sharp.

Which part broke? Was it the fluted handle or the outside ring?

Thats terrrible...I hope hes ok.

All of our cutters are so sharp...even the apple wedger. I would call home office and let them know what happened. That way if they need to add something to use and care or check out the quality they can do that.

I noticed in all the demo videos, they only cut the potato about 2/3 way with the cutter - then placed it on the stand and cut down to the end.

My kids don't use cutters or knives - table knife at the table only, ages 7 and 8

Sweet potatoes are MUCH harder. I was bummed to see it wouldn't work for those too.

Definitely review the Use & Care instructions, and then I would let HO know, especially if you did everything "by the book" (which how hard can it be, right?? If it breaks, it breaks). But they need to know sooner, rather than later, so that if there IS an issue, we find out before it goes to customers. So they would track reports from the field.

the only french fry cutter i've ever had to NOT break is my super duper one....it's on a stand and you push them thru with a handle....it's like restaurants use....EVERY other one i've had has broken....i am hoping the kinks get worked out of ours!!

My concern was how old was the son and would he have had enough leverage to push on the cutter straight down? Hope the son is ok!

I was only pointing that out because the directions they have are different than what you would think to do with it. You are suppose to use a slight rocking motion without the base until you are almost all the way through and then add the base.

I've used it about a dozen times already with no problems. I hope you get yours replaced and that it doesn't happen again.

How did you get it so early? I earned SAT and haven't received my box - it hasn't even shipped yet!

We all got one at Spring Launch here in Canada! What did people get for freebies in the US?

I was at Lexington, KY and we received the Great Grilling Recipes, Dijon Mustard Rub, Season's Best, and the Itty Bitty Bevs Margarita Mix.

Well... Vancouver did, anyway. Funny, I assumed everybody got the same thing.

I came home with the French Fry Slicer, Grilling Cookbook, Dijon Mustard Rub, and Korean BBQ Sauce (which I won in a draw).
