View Full Version : Major Forum Upgrade on the Horizon

Admin Greg

So we've been holding off upgrading for nearly two years now! We have waited long enough! We are planning on upgrading the forum early next week. How you use the site and overall design/layout will not change much at all. What should improve is the speed and security of the site. Along with TONS of new toys and features. Some of which includes social groups, profile messaging, friends system, mood manager, profile photo albums, thread prefixes, plus many mini features. I am expecting several hours of downtime as there are many template edits and things I need to do. I am also expecting the files, recipes, consultants and product reviews areas to be broken for up to a week after the upgrade. Those features will also need to be updated. Furthermore because the new upgrade will include user profile photo albums we will be removing the Photos section http://www.chefsuccess.com/photoplog/ Please backup and save any photos you want to keep.

I will make a two day and one day reminder before the upgrade. I'm not sure what day yet, but sometime next week. Thanks!!

YOU feel withdrawls? I'm breathing into a paper bag and rocking back and forth while sitting in the fetal position!

I'm actually very excited for the upgrades, but won't know what to do with out access to all of you. I guess I could just go to bed at a decent hour and read longer! :)

Thanks for the goodies, Greg!

It's not possible for a 5 to every be truly crabby. We just have moments of mild fiestiness... :)

And when have you ever been crabby?

I was going to put this in a separate post, but maybe this is a good spot - to overcome those withdrawal symptoms.

Does anyone else Facebook? We can't start a PC group, but maybe we can add each other as friends.

There were several vBulletin sites hacked over the last weekend and a lot of mischief happened. The vBulletin people also issued a new release, vBulletin 3.7.1 PL2 / vBulletin 3.6.10 PL2 because a hole in the software allowed the hackers to get in.

Just wanted to let you know.

Seriously, everyone needs to learn how to handle a few hours. I say those who are home (because I can't, I work) have a contest for those few hours CS is down for how many calls they can make to connect with customers, book shows, etc.

Have categories for most calls, most "no's", most yesses to shows, to orders, etc.

Turn your withdrawal into something productive for your business. Then come back here and celebrate a new site and new business success! :D

Yeah - I think I'll do something really productive...like...ummm, I think I'll toast some marshmallows, and make some s'mores....and then, maybe a bike ride with my boys....and sit and read some of the magazines I've been saving for vacation!:D

Hey, those are all good productive FAMILY events!

As I was sitting at work last night fixing the conveyor system, I was thinking back to the lifeguarding class we taught 2 weeks ago. I was over twice the age of the students, not in the best shape (not horrible either though) and I could kick their butt in every pre-test (which was basically just swimming). The kid (I call most people younger than me kids... :blushing: ) sitting by me last night was 22 and I was telling him this. I said we just got done raising a generation of sit on my butt in front of my computer and video game kids. He thoroughly agreed!!!! So read books, ride bikes, exercise your mind and it will help your business!

I'm not taking my computer with me, DH isn't taking his pager, and I'm not even taking any PC paraphenalia....we are getting away from it ALL!

Oh yeah, vacation! GO BECKY! ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just yesterday read a blog of a kid who came to camp in the fall and had nothing life-changing happen, there was just too much happening at camp and he couldn't get away, yet talked about how much they enjoyed playing with the band and stuff while at camp...

Got me thinking...hmm...is this the one church a year that brings their youth up and rather than enjoying the quiet northwoods, brings every piece of sound equipment imaginable, drums, guitars, the list goes on...including a FOG MACHINE one year! (I about died when I saw that...) ...and whose fault it is that you couldn't get away?

We provide a quiet, tranquil piece of the northwoods to you and SUGGEST that you don't bring toys and games and things like that...so LISTEN TO US we may actually know what we are talking about.

I am saddened when I hear youth pastors saying they can't get kids to come on a retreat unless they promise big multimedia events. :(

What happened to "Be still and know that I am God..."...

I am trying to teach my children among our MANY activities that there is a time to be still.

Yeah, but I have SEVERAL people that have seen my dark evil twin come out and spin her head around!!!

And please...me with just a mood ring on? Not a pretty picture at all!!!

I like this idea of having a mood manager come over to the house. I have an 18 year old son that I can use that on. Just have to have him land long enough to apply the manager!!! Good kid, but just would like to see him more often than just the times he needs money!!!:grumpy:

Tuesday works great for me. Hopefully we will make the mid-morning flight home tomorrow and I'll be home it time to join my new recruit at Cook Book training. I've got a show Tues night and I am not ready, plus I ned to go grocery shopping for my family. So, without my CS addiction (errrr, distraction) I should have no trouble getting everything done.
