Anyone know when it will be available for download from Consultant's Corner or do we just have to wait for the disk to com ein our changeover kits?

I think we have to wait for it to come in our kit. Do you know if we can begin using it right away or wait until Mar. 1?

I can't wait for the web-based version to come out so I can start using my Mac!!! (crossing my fingers, since they haven't tested it with a Mac yet!) :)

I'm with you, Jennifer! I hate having to submit shows manually, but I am just not giving up my Mac and I can't really justify getting a second computer just for PC. (I know it's a write-off, but I'm a very part-time consultant so I watch my expenses very carefully so that I'm not spending more than I make!)

I luckily have my mom's PC to work on when I got home (just about every weekend) ...or sometimes I sneak it on my work computer (MacBookPro...so I use the windows side)...but I feel guilty with that!

That's what I would like to know....can we use it immediately or do we have to wait for the new season?

I believe you're able to start using it immediately. Just one word of caution.....the Advanced Director I do meetings with was one of the Beta testers for this and has been using it since November. It's VERY different from the current one. Totally different kinds of programming. It's still getting the kinks worked out too. She recommends that if you're not very comfortable with the computer or not very "computer-savvy" to hold off a little on installing it and switching over from the current PP. It works better on some computers than others (=old computers seem to have problems with it). Once you switch to P3 (Pampered Partner Plus), you CANNOT go back to enter and submit shows through PP. The new version doesn't yet have some features, such as "total items sold report" and things like that. You can still look them up on the old version, but it won't have any data starting from the date you make the switch. I hope that makes sense.

Her main suggestion was to really take it slow and maybe take any teleclasses offered on it and thoroughly review ALL the materials about it. AND to NOT start using this program when you have a particularly busy week. The way you enter shows, guests, contacts, etc is totally different and takes time to get the hang of it. It isn't as easy to tab over and all that stuff. It automatically updates itself everytime you log on to the internet and some feedback I've heard is that if you wait until 11:30 pm to submit a show the last day of the month, this download/update can take a LONG time depending on your computer. Then you may not get your show in on time. Just something to keep in mind until they all work the kinks out.

Wow, I sound kinda negative, don't I? I really don't mean to be! I think we just need to be cautious because there is bound to be some frustrations. I"m REALLY excited for this new program, but there are some kinks they need to work out. The nice thing is, we'll probably get to continue to use PP (the "old" one) for maybe over a year if we want to as they phase it out. But, if you have a new recruit or something, they will get the new one, so it's good to be familiar with it.

Just my two cents! It's an exciting program, but some who have tested it feel they're introducing it too soon.:o I think it's SO cool they're trying to improve it, though!:)

There's a director in our group who was also a beta tester, I heard the same thing from her. A HUGE piece of advice from her.....BACK-UP before you upgrade!!!!!

Would they have possibly worked out some of these issues the testers had prior to sending it out or not? I'm too busy for computer issues right now so I'm thrilled you have cautioned us ahead of time.

They already have, but there will be many more that I'm sure we'll/they'll be dealing with. Even when they'd send us PP in our changeover kits, they make changes and fixes to it which is why we sometimes needed to download an update from CC.

Yes, BACKING UP is imperative....so, great suggestion!:)

One would hope so....but I wouldn't give my complete trust to it. Also keep in mind that the testers were only a sampling of consultants.....once it goes out to everyone there will be problems found that were not discovered during the test phase.

That's often the perception, but from personal experience with lots of proprietary software you usually cannot possibly test for what actually happens when the software gets out into widescale distribution.

Several years ago I had to figure out (and I'm not a computer specialist by any stretch of the imagination) how to "undo" something on some elections software that the creators of the program said "impossible. they couldn't have done that. the program won't do it. when the voting PCB is inserted no other functions work. what you are claiming happened is a supervisor function so they never would have seen that screen and been able to make that mistake." Well, my little ladies HAD done it, and I needed it reversed! (what had happened? the entire election on that machine had been erased!)

I could go on for days about that company, that software, and the fact that one of my dear friends claimed that "there is no code, there are just a bunch of termites running around inside with transistors on their backs! It was 2 of the longest years of my life, let me tell you.

So, back to the original point...it isn't too soon to release it, but expect lost of bugs as it gets into the field because no amount of beta testing can prevent that!

This board is SO RICH with experiences from every aspect of life! WOW... you are all so wonderful.. I just LOVE to read everyone's input and am SO thankful!!!

I was so excited...but now I will be very cautious...especially if they haven't tested with Macs yet.. Even I know that "well it is java-based, so it should work on a MAC" doesn't mean at all that it will...

Exactly. But I'm hopeful that HO WILL test it. They HAVE to know we're out here! I ask for a Mac version at every Conference!
